Cerec

CEREC is a tool the dentist uses to produce an indirect ceramic dental restoration (crowns, inlays & onlays, bridges, and veneers). The machine uses several technlogies such as 3D photography and CAD/CAM. The advantage for the patient is that by using CEREC, teeth can be restored in a single sitting, rather than the multiple sittings required with earlier techniques. Another advantage is that crowns, veneers, onlays and inlays can be prepared, using different types of ceramic material.

TMJ

TMJ actually stands for temporomandibular joint, which is the name of the joint located in the front of the ear. Many people suffer from temporomandibular disorders and chronic facial pain in or around the ear, tenderness of the jaw, clicking or popping noises when opening the mouth, or even headaches and neck aches. These symptoms could be a sign of a toothache, sinus infection, or an early stage of periodontal disease. Sometimes the pain is related to the facial muscles and the temporomandibular joint. Treatment options may include stress reducing exercises, muscle relaxants, and wearing a mouth protector to prevent teeth grinding.

Restorations

Restorations are also referred to as fillings and they are utilized to stop tooth decay from getting worse. Tooth decay results when plaque bacteria in the mouth use sugar and starch to break down tooth enamel and cause cavities in the teeth. Such cavities can be painful and, if left untreated, can result in a myriad of health problems including infection, abscess, and tooth loss. We restore these cavities using composite resins. Composite fillings are tooth colored fillings that are very durable, and are made to match the color of your natural tooth.

Implants

Dental implants are metal posts that work as a substitute for a real tooth root. The metal posts are placed in the bone under the gum where a tooth is missing. The bone will then heal around the metal post and a crown can then be placed on the post making this implant look like your natural tooth. Implants help retain bone that would otherwise be lost because of a phenomenon called bone resorption. When a root is missing the bone will basically deteriorate because there is no root to hold the bone in place. When an implant is placed, the bone adheres to the implant and will not deteriorate which allows the implant to act as a strong foundation for biting and chewing. Dental implants may also be used to secure bridges and dentures when more than one tooth is missing.

Orthodontics - Invisalign

Invisalign is a clear way to straighten crooked teeth. The process includes a series of clear aligners that you wear over your teeth that gradually shift your teeth into place. These aligners are changed out about every two weeks to adjust for your mouth. They are custom made after the consultation with your dentist.

Invisalign is a nice alternative to traditional braces because they are less visible and don't interfere as much with your day-to-day life.

Crowns & Bridges

A crown is used to cover a tooth and bring it back to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are placed when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won't solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn't get worse. Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn't enough of the tooth remaining.

A bright white smile can make a dramatic impact on your appearance. There are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of your smile. Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of teeth. This can be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. Porcelain veneers are placed to mask discolorations, to brighten teeth, and to improve a smile. Highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking, the wafer-thin porcelain veneers can achieve a tenacious bond to the tooth, resulting in an esthetically pleasing naturalness that is unsurpassed by other restorative options.
